After your suggestion I decided to go back to the same location and test out longer shutter speeds to see if I could get the desired trail effect, but once again I got the same result. The reason I wanted to create that effect was to show that we are all one, and that time is relative.
Next time I’ll try multiple exposures, but this time I decided to utilize some of the tools we learned in class to communicate the concept. Since none of us can see the light that unites us, I decided to make it obvious.
What if the light at the core of our being were brighter, and we could actually see a piece of ourself in others. The truth is we are all connected. If people were able to see the light, we would cease to exist. We would be everything and nothing all at the same time.
In my dream world, I would be able to bring these concepts down to earth, helping people see the light. Unfortunately these concepts are so esoteric I do not have the vocabulary to discuss them. It’s like trying to describe a color to a blind person, it’s pretty much impossible.
Maybe the key is to help people experience their inner light. For now I’ll start by directing people to look inside to see the light through conceptual art projects. Keep in mind these are drafted versions of a bigger concept. I am not satisfied with the end result of these pictures, but I can see the light ….

IMA MFA Program Description
The MFA Program in Integrated Media Arts (IMA) offers advanced studies in nonfiction media making. The IMA Program educates multi-disciplinary, socially engaged media makers in a diverse range of skills across the media landscape. Working with faculty from film, video, emerging media, and journalism backgrounds, students learn to conceptualize, create and distribute innovative, politically and socially engaged expression using contemporary media technologies.
Post 150+ words detailing what your specific interests are in the IMA program.
The description of the IMA MFA Program couldn’t be more in line with my mission and purpose in life. There is a reason I work at the UN, my goal has always been to utilize my life’s energy to help make a difference in the world.
Producing multimedia pieces to help create change is one of the main reasons I get up every morning. With each breath in and out I am constantly thinking of creations that will have a positive impact on the world. I hope this program will challenge me to dig deeper, and utilize different techniques to better communicate my conceptual art projects.
Also it’s important to make the transition from photography to videography official. Even though I currently work in the field, I have a long way to go before I master multimedia production. I have had some success, but some really epic fails costing me a ton of money and time. That being said, it would be great if this program could provide distribution and funding guidance. As well as credentials to be taken more seriously as an artist.
I am obsessed with the idea of creating online media to reach people worldwide. At this point, I have not figured out how to connect and move people on a larger scale. It’s difficult to grab the attention of the masses, especially when I am trying to feed them their vegetables. Finding a way to make people eat nutrient rich media content has been challenging, and I am hoping that this IMA MFA Program will help.
Here’s my website, beyouphoto.com. The last video I created was an internal UN video to help change the antiquated UN caste system. Fingers crossed it makes history. https://vimeo.com/299873525 Password: UN I am also working on a refugee reunification project, but I am not sure it will see the light of day.
